Any time you buy a new domain name, and want it to get hosted on the internet, you need to do a DNS change. The reason I am showing you how to do this is because I don't want you to get charged $10 - $30 for someone else to do it for you. Believe me changing your DNS only takes about five minutes to complete, doing it yourself and it will save you some money. The reason you need to change your DNS is so it links your domain name with your hosting service, so other people will be able to see your web site on the internet. If you already don't know, your domain name is the physical name you registered (.com, .biz, .org, etc), and your hosting service is where you store your web site pages (HTML, PHP, etc. Step 1 Log into the company web site where you registered your domain name Step 2 Once inside your account, go to Name servers or hosting servers. Step 3 Now enter the information your hosting company provided you.
Step 4 Click ok, you are done! Technical The only thing that the DNS does is convert your web sites ip address into a easy to remember physical name, like Yahoo.com or MSN.com. Instead of trying to remember something like this 65.102.56.32. Which one these would be easier to remember for you? |
